Eligibility at a glance

Requirement

Rule

Minimum age

18 years or older to open any account.

Countries accepted

Most countries worldwide.

Countries excluded

Residents of comprehensively OFAC-sanctioned countries (see list below).

Applies to

Both families: standard tracks (Sapphire/Ruby, Flex/Flex Funded, Gold/Platinum, Diamond) AND Express to Live (Ruby-X, Platinum-X). Same eligibility rules for both.

KYC identity

Required before first payout: government photo ID. US traders complete a W-9; non-US traders complete a W-8BEN.

Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to open an account. This applies to both the standard tracks and Express to Live.

Restricted Countries

Residents of countries under comprehensive OFAC (US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions cannot open an account. This includes Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Russia, and Belarus, plus any other country or region subject to comprehensive US Treasury OFAC restrictions.

Excluded (comprehensive OFAC sanctions)

Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Russia, Belarus, and any other country or region under comprehensive US Treasury OFAC restrictions.

Everywhere else

Accepted. ONYX serves traders from most countries worldwide.

Scope

This exclusion is firm-wide. It applies identically to the standard tracks and to Express to Live.

Because the OFAC sanctions list can change, this list is not necessarily exhaustive. Any country that becomes subject to comprehensive US Treasury OFAC sanctions is excluded even if it is not named above.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that participating in a futures prop trading program does not violate any laws in your country of residence.

Simulated vs. live capital

The nature of the trading environment differs by product and by stage. This matters for eligibility because one Express to Live stage involves real live-capital trading.

Product / stage

Environment

Standard evaluations (Sapphire, Flex, Gold)

Simulated (paper trading).

Standard funded accounts (Ruby, Flex Funded, Platinum)

Simulated (paper trading). Funded here means simulated, not real capital.

Diamond (standard tracks' live program)

Coming soon, not yet available. Separate from Express to Live.

Express to Live: evaluation

Simulated.

Express to Live: buffer stage

Simulated.

Express to Live: LIVE account

REAL live-capital trading (the only stage that trades real capital).

Summary: standard accounts (evaluation and funded) are simulated. In Express to Live, the evaluation and buffer are simulated, but the final Express LIVE account is real live-capital trading. See the Express to Live article for full detail: Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

Do not conflate: standard tracks vs. Express to Live

Eligibility (age 18+, most countries, comprehensive-OFAC exclusion) is identical across both families. The environment is not.
