Frequently Asked Questions

Short, exact answers to common ONYX questions, scoped by product family (Standard tracks vs Express to Live): accounts, drawdown, daily loss limit, consistency, targets, payouts, billing, resets, platform, instruments, and a Do-Not-Conflate reference.

Short, exact answers to the most common questions, scoped by product family. ONYX runs TWO separate product families: (1) the Standard tracks (Sapphire/Ruby, Flex/Flex Funded, Gold/Platinum, each Evaluation to Funded to a shared coming-soon Diamond live stage; standard funded accounts are simulated), and (2) Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X; a separate program that is live now, ending in a real live-capital account). Every answer below states which family it applies to. Do not apply a Standard fact to Express to Live or vice versa. Never quote account, reset, or activation prices; see current pricing at onyx-futures.com.

What products do you offer?

Two separate families:

Family

What it is

Status

Standard tracks

Three tracks, each Evaluation to Funded to Diamond. Sapphire eval to Ruby funded; Flex eval to Flex Funded; Gold eval to Platinum funded. Diamond is the shared live program every track feeds into. Standard funded accounts (Ruby, Flex Funded, Platinum) are SIMULATED.

Eval and funded available now. Diamond is COMING SOON (not yet available).

Express to Live (Ruby-X, Platinum-X)

A SEPARATE program: buy one evaluation, pass, build a buffer on the same account, then trade a REAL live-capital account. Program name is always "Express to Live", never "ETL".

LIVE NOW.

Diamond is NOT Express to Live. Express to Live is NOT a Standard track. See Account Management, Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X), and pricing at onyx-futures.com.

What is Express to Live?

A separate program (live now), distinct from the Standard tracks. Path: buy one evaluation, pass it, build a BUFFER on the same account, then that account becomes a LIVE account. Two tracks, differing only by drawdown floor type: Ruby-X = EOD trailing floor that NEVER locks at breakeven; Platinum-X = static floor. Key facts:

  • Simulated vs live: the evaluation and buffer phases are SIMULATED; the Express LIVE account is REAL live-capital trading. (By contrast, Standard funded accounts are simulated.)

  • Size = your DRAWDOWN / risk budget, not an account balance. Sizes: $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $3,000.

  • Payouts (live phase): DAILY, $300 minimum, you keep 85%, no payout cap.

  • Daily loss limit: 40% of drawdown in BOTH the evaluation and buffer phases ($400 / $600 / $800 / $1,200); self-set once live.

  • Accounts: up to 6 active, capped by COMBINED drawdown of $6,000. Activation fee is $0.

What are the Express to Live phases?

Express to Live only. Three phases on one account:

Phase

Simulated or live

Profit target

Min trading days

Daily loss limit

Consistency

Evaluation

Simulated

2x drawdown

7

40% of drawdown ($400 / $600 / $800 / $1,200)

Daily consistency cap = target / 7 rounded up ($286 / $429 / $572 / $858), eval only

Buffer

Consistency cap overage: if your best day beats the cap, the target rises to best day x 7. Drawdown boost: while in drawdown the cap scales up to 3x. A breach in the evaluation or buffer closes the account and is resettable. See Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

What Standard tracks do you offer?

Standard family only. Three tracks, each Evaluation to Funded to Diamond (shared coming-soon live stage):

Gold

Platinum

Static floor

"Size" here is an account BALANCE (25K to 200K), not a drawdown. Diamond is the shared live program every track feeds into and is COMING SOON. "Direct" accounts and "Diamond as a funded account" do not exist. See Account Management and pricing at onyx-futures.com.

What is EOD drawdown, and which accounts use it?

End-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown updates once per day at market close, never intraday. It trails up with the highest close. You breach only if the CLOSING balance is below the threshold. It behaves differently by family:

Account

Family

Floor type

Locks at breakeven?

Sapphire, Ruby, Flex, Flex Funded

Standard

EOD trailing

YES, locks once it reaches the starting balance, then never moves

Gold, Platinum

Standard

Static floor (fixed, never trails)

N/A, static; breaches the moment balance touches it, intraday or at close

Ruby-X

Express to Live

EOD trailing

NO, NEVER locks at breakeven

Platinum-X

Express to Live

Static floor

N/A, static

Standard EOD amounts by size: 25K $1,000, 50K $2,000, 100K $3,000, 150K $4,500. Standard static amounts: 50K $1,500, 100K $2,000, 150K $2,500, 200K $3,000. Optional checkout extend: Sapphire 50K to $2,250, Flex 150K to $5,000, each Gold size +$250 (to $1,750 / $2,250 / $2,750 / $3,250). Express to Live size IS the drawdown ($1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 / $3,000). See End-of-Day Trailing Drawdown Explained.

Is there a daily loss limit?

Depends on family:

  • Standard tracks: NO forced daily loss limit on any account, in any phase. You may set an optional personal daily loss limit from the dashboard, up to your drawdown, enforced through Rithmic; off by default, free to change.

  • Express to Live: a daily loss limit of 40% of drawdown IS enforced in both the evaluation and buffer phases ($400 / $600 / $800 / $1,200 for the $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 / $3,000 sizes). On the live account the daily loss limit is self-set.

What is the consistency rule?

A limit on how much of your total NET profit can come from a single day, measured against total net profit (losing days reduce that total). Values differ by family and phase:

Family / stage

Consistency

Standard, Sapphire evaluation

40%

Standard, Ruby payout

40%

Standard, Gold evaluation

40%

Standard, Platinum payout

40%

Standard, Flex evaluation

50%

Standard, Flex Funded

NONE

Express to Live, evaluation

Daily consistency cap = target / 7 rounded up ($286 / $429 / $572 / $858), eval phase only

Express to Live, buffer and live

NONE

Standard: the rule only holds you back until trading balances out; it does not fail the account. Gold offers a checkout add-on that removes the rule for the evaluation only. Express to Live: if your best day beats the cap, the target rises to best day x 7; while in drawdown the cap scales up to 3x. See Consistency Rule.

What are the profit targets and minimum trading days?

Differ by family. Standard targets are net of commissions and fees:

Family / track

Profit target

Min trading days

Standard Sapphire and Flex

25K $1,200, 50K $3,000, 100K $6,000, 150K $9,000

Sapphire 3, Flex 5

Standard Gold

50K $4,500, 100K $6,000, 150K $8,000, 200K $9,000

Note: Standard Sapphire is sold in 50K / 100K / 150K sizes only (no 25K); the 25K target row applies to Flex. Standard: a trading day = a day with at least 1 trade; there is no time limit, but 14 days with no trading breaches the evaluation. Express to Live: min 7 trading days in the evaluation, none in the buffer. See Account Management and Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

Standard first payout requires balance at or above the full drawdown over start: EOD (Ruby / Flex Funded) 25K $26,000, 50K $52,000, 100K $103,000, 150K $154,500; Platinum (static) 50K $51,500, 100K $102,000, 150K $152,500, 200K $203,000. Standard winning days required before first payout: Flex Funded 5 (each at or above $100 / $200 / $300 / $450 by size), Platinum 4 (each at or above $150 / $200 / $250 / $300), Ruby NONE. Express to Live: daily payouts, keep 85%, no consistency and no payout cap on the live account. See Payout Rules, Profit Split Explained, and Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

How many accounts can I run?

Differs by family:

  • Standard tracks: up to 10 accounts at once, or up to 5 on the Gold track. Each is purchased and passed independently.

  • Express to Live: up to 6 active accounts, capped by COMBINED drawdown of $6,000 (not by balance).

You can copy trade across your OWN accounts on any platform (both families). See Account Management and Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

Is this a subscription? How does billing work?

Neither family is a subscription; there is no monthly billing.

  • Standard tracks: a ONE-TIME fee per account through PayPal (card, debit, or PayPal balance). Sapphire has an activation option (pay more upfront for free activation, or less upfront with a one-time activation fee charged only when you pass); Flex and Gold have no activation fee. Non-refundable once trading credentials are issued.

  • Express to Live: activation fee is $0.

A chargeback without first contacting support is a permanent ban; contact support before any billing dispute. See Billing & Payments and pricing at onyx-futures.com.

How does the activation option work?

Standard: only Sapphire has an activation option, pay a little more upfront for free activation, or pay less upfront and a one-time activation fee is charged only when you pass. Flex and Gold have no activation fee. Express to Live: activation fee is $0. See Billing & Payments and pricing at onyx-futures.com.

What happens if I breach an evaluation? Can I reset?

Both families: a breach during the evaluation fails/closes that account, and it is resettable.

  • Standard tracks: a reset restarts the evaluation at the same size with metrics cleared, for a one-time payment, no limit on the number of resets. Available on every evaluation track. If you breach more than one account you can reset five for the price of four.

  • Express to Live: a breach in the evaluation OR buffer phase closes the account and is resettable. The live account is real capital and is not a resettable evaluation stage.

What platform do you use?

Firm-wide (both families): execution runs on Rithmic through TradeSea, with live CME data and TradingView charting. Sign the Non-Professional Agreement, then log in at tradesea.ai with your emailed Rithmic credentials and connect a Rithmic-compatible platform (NinjaTrader 8, R|Trader Pro, Sierra Chart, MultiCharts, or ATAS). Credentials arrive by email within minutes of payment. See Platform & Trading Setup.

What can I trade?

Firm-wide (both families): futures only, on CME, COMEX, NYMEX, and CBOT, plus their micros, including ES, NQ, CL, GC, and more. Stocks, options, spot forex, crypto, and CFDs are prohibited and lead to immediate termination. See Allowed Instruments.

Are there trading style restrictions?

Firm-wide (both families): trading must be manual; automated or bot trading is not permitted. Copy trading across your OWN accounts is allowed on any platform. Be flat at least 2 minutes before scheduled tier-1 releases (FOMC, NFP, CPI, PPI, FOMC minutes), then re-enter once prices settle. No overnight or weekend holds; any position still open at session close is auto-liquidated. Hedging (within or across accounts, same or correlated instruments) is prohibited and a permanent ban. Latency arbitrage, quote stuffing, and feed-delay / system / pricing-error exploitation are prohibited. Account and credential sharing is prohibited. See Allowed Instruments.

How many contracts can I trade, and what are commissions?

Standard commissions: $0.10 per contract per side ($0.20 round turn). See Account Management and Express to Live (Ruby-X and Platinum-X).

What is ONYX Flex?

Standard family only. Flex is a Standard track: pass a one-step Flex evaluation (EOD trailing drawdown, min 5 trading days, 50% consistency during the evaluation), then trade a Flex Funded account (simulated; NO consistency rule). No forced daily loss limit in any phase. Flex sizes: 25K / 50K / 100K / 150K. This is a Standard track, NOT Express to Live. See ONYX Flex Rules.

What is the Gold track?

Standard family only. Gold is the Standard static track: pass a Gold evaluation, then trade a Platinum funded account (simulated). Instead of a trailing drawdown, Gold and Platinum use a STATIC floor, fixed for the life of the account, that never trails. It is a hard intraday level, so the account breaches the moment balance touches the floor, intraday or at close. Gold is the only Standard track offering a 200K size (sizes: 50K / 100K / 150K / 200K). Gold has a checkout add-on that removes the consistency rule for the evaluation only. This is a Standard track, distinct from Express to Live's Platinum-X. See Account Management.

Who is eligible, and what verification is required?

Firm-wide (both families): must be 18+, most countries eligible, OFAC-sanctioned countries excluded. Before your first payout you must pass KYC: a government photo ID; US traders file a W-9, non-US traders a W-8BEN. See KYC & Identity Verification.

How do I contact support?

Firm-wide: email [email protected]; replies within one business day. Contact support before opening any billing dispute or chargeback (a chargeback without contacting support is a permanent ban).
